We’ve never worked with concrete before outside of some home improvement stuff like footings for fence posts. We have a lot of friends who love using it so we finally decided to give it a shot with our first DIY concrete project!
This DIY Concrete Side Table is our first attempt at making a piece of furniture from concrete and although we ran into some big challenges, we’re super happy with the result. Making DIY concrete furniture is a lot easier than you might think and the materials to do it are really cheap!
We wanted to design something unique so we came up with a floating top concept for our concrete side table. The wooden base is built in a way where it creates an illusion that the heavy concrete table top is “floating” above the wooden base. We also added some hexagon epoxy resin inlays to our concrete table to give it some awesome detail.
If you’d told us a few weeks ago that our first DIY concrete table project would come out this awesome, we’d have started working with concrete much sooner. It’s messy and there’s a lot of waiting around for things to dry and cure, but if you’re patient you can make some incredible projects with concrete.
P.S. What’s the difference between an end table and a side table? Or is it a concrete accent table? Can you end the debate and bring peace to the Wicked Makers household?
